All About Oscar

Meet Oscar, Our Goldendoodle.
He is 3 yrs old.
He sure has come a long way.
Whew!

Ok, this this post isn't all about Oscar.
He is pretty well taken care of.
You know those "honey do" lists everyone has for their husbands?
I never have one.
He ALWAYS knows when something needs to get done.
One thing. Grooming.
It has been so hot here and Oscar's hair grows so fast.
We can't afford to take him to the groomer every few weeks.

My husband s a jack of all trades
Trade # 1 - Dog Grooming.

He is such a good dog!

Oscar, you are so cute!

He also needed a bath.
We were up at the in-laws cottage on Tuesday.
He would only go a little way in the water
but just enough to get the nasty seaweed smell all over him.

This is where I come into play...
Call me cheap, call me practical.
I have been using this homemade dog shampoo for about a year.
The Dawn dish soap is good for fleas.

Dog Shampoo

1 cup liquid dish soap (You can use Dawn for sensitive skin, I didn't)
1 cup white vinegar
1 quart warm water

Directions:
1. Mix the three ingredients in a large bowl and then transfer to a an old shampoo bottle (make sure you label it "dog shampoo" though). Give it a little shake to make sure it is mixed.
2. Apply to your dog just as you would normal shampoo. It is best if you can massage it into the fur and let sit for 5 minutes.
3. Rinse your doggy thoroughly with warm water. Towel dry.
